Privacy Policy
Salima is a small reminder app: it puts one person from your list in front of you each day and asks whether you'd like to reach out. This policy explains what we store to do that, where it lives, and how to get rid of it. Salima is run by Victor Bolivar ("we", "us").
The short version: we keep only what the app needs to remind you, we never contact the people on your list, we do not run analytics or ads, and deleting your account removes everything.
What we store
Your account
- Email address. You sign in with a 6-digit code sent to your email. There is no password. Your email is your account identifier.
- Name. The name you give during onboarding, shown inside the app.
- Date of birth. Used only to confirm you are 18 or older. We do not use it for anything else.
- Terms acceptance. The date and time you accepted the Terms of Service, and the date you finished onboarding.
Your preferences
The settings you choose in the app: default contact rhythms per relationship (parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles, friends), preferred reminder time of day, the Friday and Ramadan reminder options, whether to show a line on kinship when your day is clear, and app language.
Your people
For each person you add, the details you enter:
- what you call them and their full name
- their relationship to you (mother, father, grandmother, friend, …)
- their phone number
- when you last reached them, how often you want to be in touch, and whether you've said "not today" recently
- optionally, one upcoming moment worth remembering (a label and a date)
- the language and greeting style you'd like for suggested messages
These are details about other people, entered by you. We store them solely so the app can remind you. We never contact the people on your list, never look them up elsewhere, and never share their details with anyone. You are responsible for having their details in the first place — for most people this is simply their own family and friends.
What we don't store
- Calls and messages. When you tap Call, WhatsApp or Message, Salima hands the number to the phone, WhatsApp or messaging app on your device. Those conversations happen entirely outside Salima; we never see their content, or whether they happened.
- Your address book. Salima does not read your device contacts. You type people in yourself.
- Analytics, advertising or tracking. The app contains no analytics SDK, ad network or tracking pixel. If that ever changes, this policy will change first and say so plainly.
- Location. Not collected.
Where it lives
| Where | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase (our database) | Everything listed above | So your list follows you across devices |
| Resend (email delivery) | Your email address, the sign-in code | To send the 6-digit sign-in code |
| Your device | A local copy of your list and settings | So the app opens instantly and works offline |
Supabase hosts our database and sign-in system, in the United States (Virginia) region. Every row is protected so that only the signed-in account that created it can read or change it.
Resend delivers the sign-in email from auth.salima.im. Nothing else is sent by email unless
you write to us.
Your device keeps a snapshot of your list so the app launches without waiting for the network. Signing out removes it.
Both Supabase and Resend act as processors on our behalf, under their own data-processing terms. We do not sell personal data and do not share it with anyone else.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, settings and people are removed immediately and permanently from our database. Backups held by our hosting provider expire on their normal schedule, typically within days.
Deleting your account
Open the You tab in the app and choose Delete account. This removes your sign-in and everything attached to it. It cannot be undone. If you can't get into the app, email us from the address you signed up with and we'll do it for you.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you, or to object to how it's used. Almost all of this you can do directly in the app; for anything else, write to hello@salima.im. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK you also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Age
Salima is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account, and we enforce this with the date of birth you give at sign-up. We do not knowingly keep data about anyone younger; if you believe we do, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the bottom of this page and, where the change is significant, tell you in the app before it takes effect.
